Exodus 20:8-11
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work.10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
He never said, “Remember my resurrection.”
was the Sabbath meant for the Jews or all generations?.
The Sabbath is the seal of the Lord. So why do we worship on Sunday instead of Saturday the 7th day?.
Why Does churches worship on Sunday and not on Sabbath Saturday.? “On the 7th day God rested from everything He had created”.
- Lets hear the whole conclusion!!
John 11:9-16
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
Jesus himself is the light. There is no stumbling for him. Those of the darkness will stumble. As long as the Father lets him shine, he continues his work until his day is over.
The timeframe of which Jesus spoke when he asked His disciples “Are there not 12 hours in the day?” drew attention to His time being short. The spiritual darkness of the cross was forthcoming. He was determined to finish His work, knowing that the darkness could not overpower the Light of life which originated from the cross
Therefore, it is so important that we as Christians work with the times (day of course). Spiritually speaking darkness can be over a land while there is sunlight, so this should not be taken literally.
- How many hours is a day in biblical times?
The people in the past, in their homes and in business, knew nothing of 24 hours makes a day. To them the day was the period between sunrise and sunset, Morning to evening.
Some teach that Genesis was a 24 hours make a day, some teach that 12 hours makes a day, some teach that the 6 days of creation was thousands to billions of years).
So, if you’re going to take the days as literal where the Lord God said to Moses, Sanctify the Sabbath. Make it holy. It is my day, on this day you come and worship me, If you are going to take that Sabbath as a literal day, then we are going to have a problem. Why?
Because,
When you look at day one to day six, in Genesis 1, there is an evening and there is a morning, When you look at day 7, There is no mention of neither evening nor a morning.
Genesis 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.3 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work- Saturday evening to morning 6pm, no work (He is at rest until 6am)
Sunday morning 6am, arise from sleep, Sunday 6am, until now God is still at work)
Jesus Risen from the dead very early on the first day of the week – Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Matthew 28:1 28
In the end of the sabbath, ( SUNDAY MORNING) as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
Mark 16:1-2 And when the sabbath was past, ( SUNDAY MORNING) Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
2 And very early in the morning ( SUNDAY MORNING) the first day of the week, (Sunday 6am) they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. (Sun Rise 6am)
How it is observe presently now? beginning at sunset on Friday evening and ending after dark on Saturday evening= 24 hours
Note:
Day 1-7 is now History -Pass
So we are not resting in a day, (HISTORY) (7th) day) nor in evening to morning, neither in Jesus Death, We are now resting in Christ because of his resurrection, So The New Testament Sabbath is resting in Christ
Day 8 Which is the first day, started early in the morning from Jesus risen from the dead.
1+6=7 which represent Old Testament Completion, so if you are resting in 7, the Sabbath, you are still sleeping.
8 is the beginning of the New Testament/New beginning in Christ
The New Testament represents 1 and 8. 8+1 = 9, There is 9 fruit of the Spirit, 1 Fruit with 9 parts
Gal 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,23 Meekness, temperance.
