ABOUT ME

I am Pastor Clive Salmon, and my loving wife Evangelist Nickesha Salmon, who has been with me in The M.F.C Church. I was born in Jamaica, in the District of Aberdeen, in the Parish of St. Elizabeth. I believe that I was born to win, born to serve God, and to live a life of mission with a God purpose.

“Living a life on mission” is to live on purpose, to fulfill the Great Commission, and to stand in the GAP. It reflects the heart of evangelism—reflecting Jesus and sharing the Gospel with those I come in contact with.

The water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:13-14

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Psalm 36:8-9

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Mic. 4:1, 2.

4 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Matthew 5:1-12

5 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The Beatitudes sum up Jesus’ teaching about what it means to live as a child of God’s kingdom and how to drink from the fountain

 The Preacher was our Lord Jesus, the Prince of preachers, the great Prophet of his church, who came into the world, to be the Light of the world.

Prophets, Priest, Kings of old Testament, Prophets and Apostles of the new Testament Christ excelled them all. He is the eternal Wisdom, that lay in the bosom of the Father, before all worlds,   in Jn. 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

He is the eternal Word,

Let take a closer look at the Beatitudes on the mountain

The place of the Beatitudes was a mountain in Galilee.

he had no convenient place to preach in, No place to lay his head, The  scribes and Pharisees had Moses’ chair to sit in, with all , honour, and state, and there they corrupted the law;

our Lord Jesus Christ, the greatest  Teacher of truth, is driven out to the desert, and finds no better a pulpit than a mountain to preach, not one of the holy mountains, not one of the mountains of Zion, but a common mountain;

The gospel truth is the will of God and  men should pray and preach every where, any where, provided it be decent and convenient, weather in mountain or valley, market place, wayside and edges

Christ preached this sermon, which was an exposition of the law, upon a mountain, because upon a mountain the law was given; and this was also a solemn announcement of the Christian law.

Let observe the difference: when the law was given, the Lord came down upon the mountain; now the Lord went up:

When he came down, he spoke in thunder and lightning; now, he went up he spoke in a still small voice:

In the Old Testament, The people were ordered to keep their distance;

 now he went up in the New Testament, they are invited to draw near: This was a blessed change!  God’s grace and goodness are certainly  his glory,

The glory of the gospel is the glory that excels, for grace and truth came by Jesus Christ, 2 Co. 3:7; But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

Heb. 12:18, 18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

NLT (Lets Break it down) 18 You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai.

It was foretold of Zebulun and Issachar, two of the tribes  (Deu. 33:19 They shall call the people unto the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand.

This the mountain of the Lord, where he taught us his ways,

 Isa. 2:2, 3  The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

 Mic.

Lets look at the N.T some more Re the MT, Mk. 3:13
And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

In St Luke 6:13.  And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

NOTE

 Christ directed his disciples, He Taught them the word, they followed him for love and learning, while others attended him only for cures, / treatmentHe taught them, because they were willing to be taught, The Chosen disciples understood  what he taught, while to others it was foolishness;

 The disciples were ordain and chosen to  teach others; it was therefore essential that they should have a clear and distinct knowledge of these things themselves. The duties prescribed in this sermon were to be carefully performed by all those that would enter into that kingdom of heaven which they were sent to set up, with hope to have the benefit of it.

But though this discourse was directed to the disciples, it was in the hearing of the multitude; for it is said in Matthew ch. 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:),

 No bounds were set about this mountain, to keep the people off, as were about mount Sinai (Ex. 19:12); for, through Christ, we have access to God, not only to speak to him, but to hear from him.  he had an eye to the multitude, in preaching this sermon, his  miracles brought a vast crowd together, he took the opportunity to  join together a  people, to instruct them.

Note,

 It is a blessing  to all faithful minister to cast the net of the gospel where there are a great many fishes, The sight of a multitude puts life into a preacher, which yet must arise from a desire of their profit, not his own praise.
